After reading Sven Hansons article on EFFICIENCY GUIDELINES for cabinet building.(25 years of great Building Tips) I have a couple of questions for those of you familiar with this method of cabinet construction. 1.When building a sink cabinet, do you install a separation piece between the drawer front and doors below or do you leave the entire box open? 2.What type of hinges are you using?

Are you referring to a rail between the ends? On frameless cabinets I use a solid piece about eight inches wide to which I attach the false front. It stiffens the cabinet and allows the doors to close against it too.
On face frame cabinets, I build the frame just like a normal one but add blocking to screw the false fronts into.
As far as hinges go, I have always used the Blum hinges. I also use full extension drawer guides exclusively.
Have no idea what Sven said. If you mean a face frame rail, yes. If you mean a horizontal partition, no. The plumbers don't like it. Hinges change with every job and design.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
I use a flat panel across the front sufficent for a false front to match the top drawer height, also a centre stile.
I use Mepla hinges.
