In the interest of finishing the kitchen cabinets I built for out house I’m now looking for door ideas. They’ll be painted white (or some color the wife picks out) so wood is not a priority. They’ll likely be poplar.
Any pics of cool doors you’d like to share?
BTW, its a Victorian style home yet has stainless steel appliances nearby. “Old with conveniences” I like to call it.

I just built a bunch (36) of frame and flat panel doors out of frame grade alder($1.50/bf).
I used a pair of Bosch bits to make the frames. I also added a separate bead around the outside edge. They were sealed with vinyl sealer and then glazed with dark glaze and then shot with catalyzed lacquer. The door places get $18 a square foot for them and I had probably $3 per in them. (If I count my time its lots more, but it kept me out of the bars for a week or so.)..And DW really likes them.(most important)

Do not use poplar! It moves to much. Alder might be good(I havent tried it ) soft maple or brown maple(they might be the same thing) are good and bass wood is very stable but soft. Go to your local hardwood dealer and get their opinion.
It actually might be cheaper if you order the doors and stain them the way you want. If you consider the time and tooling it takes to build them. Not to mention any style you want. But if you just want to make them much like I chose to do then check out some door manufactureers or go to blowes or home cheapo and check out their styles and get some brouchures.
