I need to remove the sticky residue from old contact paper in order to prepare kitchen cabinets for painting. Is there a product that anyone can recommend to do this job? Thanks.

Depending on whats underneath, you can try Naphtha, or Denatured alcohol. Naphtha, I've found, removes adhesive residue that mineral spirits, and de-n alcohol couldn't touch. But as always, test on an inconspicuous area to see if it damages the finish underneath. But if you're painting, I'm guessing it doesn't matter what you do to the exisiting finish.
I might try one of the citrus based cleaners. They do a suprising job of getting gooey messes off, and are a leittle easier on the enrvironment too.
