Has anyone ever used the self stick veener to reface a kitchen cabinet face frame? I’ve used it before on funiture pieces but not on cabinets. I’m concerned about heat from the oven and diswasher. If not self stick then what? Client does not want new cabinets, OK with new doors but wants them stained.
Thanks

We had our kitchen "refaced"
We had our kitchen "refaced" about 7 years ago -- new doors and drawer fronts, and overlaying the carcass faces. The guy that did it was a real expert, and he used 3/32" plywood for the faces, with only a little self-stick veneer for the exposed edges on the sides of a few of the boxes. He custom-stained the plywood. He'd fasten oversized strips of the plywood in place on the carcass faces, then go around an opening with a router to trim it to the opening.
A trick he used on the drawers was to take them to his shop and somehow (plainer/jointer, perhaps?) trim the edges and faces of the drawer fronts so that they were flat/square and slid all the way into the drawer slots. Then he attached the new fronts to those. Worked well with our drawers, which were quite sound and better than any kit replacement.
Turned out great, and we have no complaints.
cabinet reface
Dan, thanks for the input. How did he attach the plywood to the faceframe? Glue, nail, both or some other way?
Brad nailer and, I think, some sort of glue.
