I intend to have a home built in the next year and would like recommendations on a CAD program to help me explore design alternatives. When complete I expect to turn it over to a design/builder who would likely either import my rough work or redo it on his system. I am looking for a program that does not require a long learning curve, like AutoCad. Any thoughts?

Go to BestBuy, etc., and look at 3D home architect and the like. The programs run about $50, and have a short learning curve. Your builder won't get much of a file he can work with, but it'll let you play around with options and changes.
