Hi,
I measured up my drive way for pavers (21x 27) and I wanted to know if there’s a way to calculate what sqft coverage I will need to order if I’m doing a herringbone pattern with 4×8 brick..
Thanks,
Mike

No Waste
Mike,
See the attached file. Since your driveway is rectangular, you should have little if any waste if you size it to accommodate full pavers. Your only cuts should be half pavers around the perimeter. Calculate the driveway area and divide by the area of an individual brick to determine how many bricks.

Thanks,
That looks pretty good. I was going to set them out at a 45 deg. I think that's where there would be an issue. But that looks great too.
Mike
It takes precisely the same number of pavers as any other pattern, so long as you don't waste the cutoff pieces.

Make sure your edge restraints are exactly 90º in the corner where you start laying pavers and do whatever it takes to ensure any splices are flush and straight down the 21’ and 27’ sides. A deviation of 1/16th of an inch from square will cause problems. Spend a little more time up front in setup and save a lot of time and frustration later.
I hear you there. I'm thinking because of the size I'll probably do the 90 deg. I want to enjoy doing this and not have it get out of control. Thanks for the tip.
Mike
What brand of pavers are you using?
I’m thinking about replacing a section of my broken concrete driveway with pavers.
How thick are your pavers?
What kind of base and how thick are you installing?
I'm using the thin pavers (1.25") 1/4 sand bed. Morter the perimeter.

figure 21'4" x 27'4"
It
figure 21'4" x 27'4"
It makes a diff id you use the bricks on edge or face tho
He's using 1-1/4" thick.
so there's no on edge situation here. I'm wondering the sturdiness of this thin a material, even on the perfect bed.
