How many professionals install 16′ drywall on a regular basis? Is handling them worth it to save a few butt joints on residential work? How stable are they to move around on a drywall lift?

I guess it depends on how high quality of a job you are trying to achieve. I always use 16' anywhere possible to avoid butt joints. They are plenty stable on a drywall lift if you are careful. It pretty much requires two men to handle a 16', though. But the few minutes spent fooling around with the sheet is definitely saved in not having to spackle and sand a butt joint, and I hate butt joints anyway.
