That is a real piss poor recall announcement.
No clue as to what types, how long they have been around or anything.

"Hazard: The compressor’s thermal overload, which shuts the unit off when it overheats, can fail. This can lead to overheating, melting of parts and a risk of fire.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recall involves the Campbell Hausfeld model HU200099AV air compressor with a 20-gallon tank. The recall includes date codes ranging from January 2009 through June 2009. The model number and date code can be located on the back of the tank.
Sold at: Wal-Mart stores nationwide from January 2009 through June 2009 for about $250."
There is also a picture at that link.
And there is another one that is a few months old.

"Hazard: Protective covers on the compressor’s motor are not made from proper flame retardant material and can ignite, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 11 reports of fires. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recall involves the following Campbell Hausfeld and Husky brand air compressors:
Capacity Model Numbers Serial Numbers
8-15 gallon HL410100, HL421000
HL421500, HL431500 The first four digits of the serial number indicate a date code
from July 2005 (0705) through March 2007 (0307)
4 gallon HL5402 Have a prefix of HY, KB, or HU followed by a date code
from November 2006 (1106) through November 2007 (1107)
The model and serial number are located on the back of the tank.
Sold at: Home improvement and hardware stores nationwide from September 2005 through November 2007 for between $170 and $200."
And there are again pictures of the different styles.
NOTE THAT TWO MODELS ARE LABELED HUSKY ( HD house brand). One is a twin tank with a handle and it the type that would be used in construcition.

Thanks for digging up that info Bill.
And thanks to John as well.
I grateful to get a head's up about any power tool that has a potential for starting a fire.
