   Greetings darak from a stateside american Pole.

   Sure you can use them if they are sound lumber and your community will permit you to.

   So how did you find your way on to Breaktime? Don't tell me FineHomebuilding is available in polish in Poland?

   Hi,
   thanks for your answer. I used this forum 5 years ago when I was building my house. Woodframe was not kinda new then and I had some problems which I couldn't solve using the books I had. Thank God I could use the internet and search for help from people like you. Now it's a bit different, a lot of people are building woodframe houses but still they make a looooot of mistakes. And the prices are going crazy here in Poland so I thought about using this wood from the deck.
   You're an american Pole? So you like have lived in the States all your life?

   yep, born and raised here and the only polish I speak we are not suppose to print on site here.

   Something that sounds like goovna dupa and my purebred papa when he hits his finger or something of that nature utters something like 'shawkclef hoyletta' meaning something to do with dog's blood.

   So lumber is getting expensive in Poland, aye?

   Are the woodframe buildings there of 2x4s and sheetgoods like plywood or osb (oriented strand board)?

   I recognise the first two words of course :-)) but can't make out that other one. So your father must be polish. Are there a lot of polish people where you live? You ever been to the country of your ancestors?
   Lumber is not that expensive. Other building materials are though. Most people built of brick and concrete. Woodframe is getting more and more popular since is viewed as ecological and nice to live in. I think OSB is used most often 'cos plywood is way too expensive.
   And 2x6 is mostly used because of the thicker insulation you can put into the walls (winters tend to be cold here).

   Plenty of Pole communities around. Most folks had grandparents that 'came over on the boats' and I've only been outside of the US for occasional trips to Canada so I'm a real homeboy.

   Polkas and vodka still popular in Poland?

   What type of insulation is commonly used there?

   If by polka you mean the dance - they're not polpular I think at least not among young people. Vodka of course is popular.
   The most frequently used insulation is this (I don't remember the english word) glass wool??? If you know what I mean. Thanks for help, gotta go. See you next time.

   I reused some deck boards on a dock. The dock broke and 6 people fell in to the water.

   The old deck stuff was dryrotted.
