Can you tape over a tear away L bead after a timberframe has shrunk and the drywall needs repair?

Hi Everyone,
We are building a timberframe and currently at the drywall stage. I know that the beams will shrink over the next few years. If I use tear away L bead now where the drywall meets the post and beam structure, will I be able to flat tape over it in the future when the beams shrink, or will I need to use caulk?

Yes
You should have no problem flat taping in the future.
Unless the shrinkage is real severe, I would just caulk.
I have had good luck with Sashco brand caulks for their paintability and flexing abilities.
I would say their Big Streach would work well for you although I prefer their Lexal caulks - although they are somewhat harder to work with against rough surfaces like a timberframe.

You'd be best to ask about the amount of shrinkage.......
Hard to tell. If you lay the L bead up against the beam now, that will leave a mine-nute caulk joint . How much shrinkage later will tell the tale.
There'd be no problem flat taping over a flat tape. the L would mean a bit more buildup to make it disappear later.
Best of luck.
Thank you Terry and Calvin, that is helpful.
