Electrician installed the wrong outlet for our dryer hookup. I got the standard replacement dryer cord to replace the existing 3 prong cord, but then realized it didnt fit the outlet. It appears a range outlet was installed by mistake. If i use a range cord for the dryer, is that safe? A quick google search suggestes it would be fin since the cord is rated for a higher amperage than the appliance needs, but i trust the people in this forum more than Google and am extremely ignorant with electricity. Really dont want to wait for electrician to come back and fix it and would luke to just use a range cord so we can get some laundry done if it doesnt matter. Any advice would be appreciated.

Why not just change the outlet. It may be cheaper than the cord.
My house was built with a range outlet. I just use a range cord Circuit breaker is 30 amp so it’s protected at the right level.
