I’m buying a new truck and the cap on my old one won’t fit so it’s for sale.
This is a Fibrobec-PLUS cap made for 1998 & earlier long-bed full-sized pickups. It’s a high-rise ‘bump-up’ cap with lots of headroom, automotive-glass windows (very dark tint), a framed lockable rear window/gate, sliding front center window, and a custom-made heavy-duty 6’x4′ aluminum roof rack. The cap has been custom reinforced with steel fish-plates and extra armatures to support whatever weight you can get up onto that rack. I’ve put up to 500 pounds of 2x’s on it with no problems. The reinforcing steel has been professionally fiberglassed-over on the inside; it is very clean and neat.
My local Fibrobec dealer says this cap & rack combo would have cost approximately $3000 (CAN) new with the rack and custom paint job; he suggested that it should be worth about $750 (CAN) used.
It is in excellent mechanical condition–no cracked glass; no wear spots or cracks in the shell at all. It’s painted metal-flake navy blue, with a clear-coat. The paint is in good shape but the clear-coat is blistered in a few places (mostly on the roof), and the original stick-on ‘pin stripes’ & are shot. It’s about 10-12 years old, I think, but it could be a 1990. It came with the truck when I bought it in 1999.
This cap should fit any full-size pickup with an 8′ bed prior to 1998. It is currently mounted on my 1990 GMC 1500 Sierra King Cab, which is sitting on the dealer’s lot waiting to be stripped and scrapped.
If you’re from the US and haven’t heard of Fibrobec, it’s the #1 fibreglass truck-cap manufacturer in Canada. Their caps are considered of higher quality than Leer.
I’m in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, about an hour and a half north of Montréal. I can’t deliver it (it won’t fit on the short-bed truck I’m buying), so you’ll be best off coming up here to pick it up. I have no idea what motor freight would cost to ship it, but can find out if you’re interested.
Make an offer. Post it here or E-mail me at [email protected] .

Hey buddy -
I'd recommend you post flyers of it with your ASKING PRICE, on local shops' bulletin boards - and ad for it in Craig's List up there too - if you haven't already.
With the cost of gas these days, I'd venture to guess that the highest probability of somebody buying that off you is a person who's geographically within an hour's drive of you. But that's just my 2 cents; and we know the american coin ain' t holding up well these days...<g>
Good luck.

Hiya sweetums! Welcome back!
I will be putting flyers around town on the local BBs tomorrow or Monday for sure, but I know there are at least a few guys here who live within a couple of hours drive of me and one of 'em might need it or know somebody who does.
The local Hertz guy might put it on his lot in his used car section for me, too. And one of my buds who runs an excavation company suggested a few other places to call.

Sounds like you're all over it! (and thanks for the welcome back!)
BEST OF LUCK to you on the selling of the cap and with the replacement truck; looking forward to seeing ya and the Jets at Doud's!

If all else fails, I could stick it in the woods and turn it into a clandestine chicken coop. But no way am I letting some junkyard have the truck with that on it for the scrap-metal price.

LOL! I understand...and that's also same thinking that has boxes and boxes of stuff in my garage that I don't even remember what is in them anymore.

One day, you're gonna need what's in 'em and then you'll be able to say, 'I told you so....'

I love your optimism and vote of confidence that I'd be able to CHOOSE the right box and FIND it! (whatever "it" is at the time!!!!)
