Need ideas for tool and material storage in cargo trailer
I just bought new cargo trailer and I’m looking for pics and ideas to set up interior. We are remodelers and seem to need to carry a little of everything.

Dt,
I have a 6x12, with a side door. I put shelves across the front and 8' along The side opp. the door.
This is not a perfect setup cause when I get all the stuff loaded in the trailer is leaning to one side.
Think about alll ths tools and fasteners and other heavy items and try to devise a system that will distribute them evenly for travel.
Make your shelves wide enough to hold your widest tool box. usually a sawzall.
I made the top shelf about 12" down from the cieling. with the plan that this would be used for sawzall, jigsaw, and other shallow tool cases.
Bottom shelf is high enough to slide Mud buckets under ( laeve room for the ahndle and your hand!!)
Intermediate shelves are for larger tool boxes and such.
I am also contemplating a pullout shelf to set a selected tool box on to access what is inside it w/o carrying it some where else or putting on the floor.
Hang a 3'or 4' step from a door so you can reach the big ladders on the top rack.
a peg rack for shovels, brooms, air hose, ext. cords, garden hose, rope, etc.etc.
I also made some "slide-in" slots under the middle shelf to hold levels, straight edges, DW square, and some 2x4s for a ply wood cutting surface.
A clamp rack on a door may be in the future.
A cabinet or two with doors is a good place for small fastener boxes and such.
This is obviously a work in progress and I am always lookin for ways to use the spacemore efficiently.
Screw stuff together so you can change your mind. (pretend you are working for your wife)
Keep me posted, I am always looking for a better idea!
Happy trailering!

Mike......don't look now.......but you've been ripped off!

i put a false floor in my trailer, i keep conduit, copper pipe, pvc & whatever else i don't want ruined. right now i have the wall mould & 12' mains for a drop ceiling in one space, safe & sound. I ripped 2x 4x14's to 2-1/8 & screwed them to the floor. I made 6 spaces 7" wide & 1 bigger one . i put stop blocks at 10'2" for the conduit & copper spaces so I could get them back out.(trailer is 14') in the big space the stop block is at 12'8" for siding trim. I covered this with 3/4 plywood. you could make this as high as you wanted, i figured 1-1/2 pvc was the largest item i would slide in there. I also have 6'6" inside height & since i'm 6'2", didn't want to duck when im inside. Up in front of the 10' spaces i made a removeable section of floor-about 2'x3'. i don't have anything in there yet, will be good for small hand tools you only need once in a while.
In my pickup i made a false floor with two 8' long drawers about 6" high, this would work in the trailer as well.
I hope this makes sence, part of the fun is the customizing!
