I have an area in my house where I would like to do a carpet / tile transition (see lame sketch attached). Unfortunately there are stairs so the whole matter gets complicated.
I’d like to have carpet on the stairs and tile on the landing and in the coat room. I would like tile as this is where snow is likely to get tracked in from the outside and I’m even considering a floor drain on the landing. I’d like carpet on the stairs for traction / safety / fall down padding but need something that can handle a puddle on the flat areas.
My concern is the transition being fairly seemless to prevent a tripping hazard. Is this do-able and practical? If so, where is the transition located? On the flat of the landing? Tucked under the first step? If the latter I’m assuming I’d need a bull-nose on the top steps. I’m willing to entertain other ideas as well…
TIA… Kubotagreg
