Help! My caste iron baseboard has been leaking in one particular area for years to the point where it has eroded an area of wood flooring (I have a piece of wood covering the area because the hole is large enough for a foot or our guinea pig to fall through). My husband says it can be repaired @ the site of the leak….2 different plumbers explained something about a loop & that it has to repaired/replaced from end to end, meaning it can not be repaired at the site of leakage only. My husband is handy but he also doesn’t want to hire a plumber ($). Is this a small repair or does it need end to end repair/replacement? Thanks.

It's hard to tell what the situation is from your description. If this is baseboard sections tighly connected one to the next, one would have to begin at one end or the other to disconnect them. Basically you need to get back to a pipe that can be cut or disconnected at a "union" joint. And this repair could take several days, during which time the entire house would be out of heat.
Have you tried simply placing a metal pan under the leak, for the time-being?
Thanks
I think I'm going to wait until next winter!! mainly for financial & end-of-the-winter reasons! I think I should go to the "needs to access both ends" answer!
