Caulking wall trim over floating floor
We’re getting ready for a kitchen remodel, and planning to use a floating laminate floor (“snap joint” type). We’ll be able to pull the baseboard and caulk at the bottom of the wainscoting, but how do I caulk the joint between door trim and floor? Will a good flexible caulk work well with a floor that is presumably moving a bit all the time?
Also: I can pull the baseboard, but would rather not pull the wainscoting, and the kitchen layout isn’t amenable to shoe molding; will it work to have just 1/4″ of floor covered by the baseboard?
Final question (for now, anyway…): anyone have any experience with the Ikea laminate floors? They’re a lot cheaper than other big box store flooring, with a long warranty, but I don’t know what that means in terms of actual quality.

Undercut the door jamb and casing and slip the floor under it. Keep your clearance hidden under that stuff. Undercut a bit of (1'') the basebd too at that juncture. Hidden gap is the result. You could undercut the wainscot if you want and slip the whole bunch under there. You get to the last run and that makes life interesting but not impossible. Put in, slide over..........

Most of the laminate flooring at Ikea looks kindof cheap to me.
I've had good luck with the laminate flooring available at Costco's or Sams club. It runs about $1.57 a square foot there, and at Sam's - it has built-in foam attached to it already.
Each store has about 4-5 varieties and it seems like decent product.
