Question: I will shortly be shingling a hip roof for the first time with white cedar on skip sheathing spaced 5″ on center.
In the dim recesses of my mind I seem to remember that with white cedar you don’t have to space the shingles the usual 1/8″ or so as they will shrink. Also, I think I remember that the nails (3d hot dipped) should be fully set, unlike red cedar where they are left barely proud.
I would appreciate any info you guys can give on this.
Also, can anyone give me a good reference to weaving the hip ridges?
Thanks, Jack
