Thought about using cedar shingle panels to re-side the 2nd story of my house until I ran across a thread on the JLC website (Journal of Light Construction). Apparantly, a contractor here in NC installed a well-known manufacturer’s product and experienced quite a bit of shrinkage (~1/2″) between ends of the 8′ panels. Has anyone had this problem before, and why does it happen? Instead, would you lay them up the old-fashioned way, use something else, or is there a trick to using the panels?
