I am building a house want to put cedar shingles on the exterior walls. The exterior of the house is sheathed with 7/16 OSB and I want to put 1/2 inch inulated blue board (I have heard it called bead board) on top of the OSB. Can I nail cedar shingles to the OSB through the blue board? If yes, what is the proper fastening device to nail the shingles on?

No, apply your shingles to the OSB with a layer of building felt 15# or 30# as housewrap. Fasten with Stainless Steel ringshank shingle nails or
pneumatically fasten with stainless staples of the appropriate size.
