Cedar Shingle Water Repellent- What Kind

I am covering a storage shed roof with cedar shingles. Any ideas on what brand of water repellent to use? I don’t care about the weathering of the color(Seattle Grey in the end anyway), just keeping the moisture down a little and giving the roof a longer life. Thanks!

use any water repellant you want as long as it doesnt have parifin in it.
Thomsons makes a good water repellant.....but I really don't think you need any unless the pitch of the roof is really shallow.
The wood roof on my house must of been here for over fifty years and still no leaks.

Sounds good. Its a 7 pitch roof. It also sits under a nice cedar tree that drops crud on it often.
I'm not a big fan of Thompson's Water Seal. I think a semi solid stain would be a better choice- it should last much longer and provide UV protection.
Flood makes a great penetrating product a clear coat or two for now and one with a little cedar colorant for 6 yrs down the road when it needs a little restoration
stay away from Thompsons
I have used Flood products before. Their paint additives are really good. I will give them a try.
