How do your costs compare, installed on the wall, for 1/2 x 6 clapboards, 4-1/2″ exposed, VG WRC versus fibercement?

materials are cheaper for FC.. labor is about double...
my house..i'd go with the FC.. might do it still .. take the cedar off and put on FC.. nice stuff

But why such high labor? Cuts with one of those dusthood saws. Shears with those kingsize snips. Nails up with a coil nailer. Is it the weight factor? The fear-of-the-unknown factor? I used to get down around Charlotte, Cary, and the Raleigh areas of NC, huge housing markets, and it is all you see happening down there.
down there they probably do it twice as fast as we do... i just think it's twice what we spend on RC 1x6 claps..
could be that we're doing more detailing than we used to do also..
the handling is slower, ripping , pre-drilling some areas..
since we're remodelers and not siding specialists, a lot of that is learning curve.. one or two FC jobs a yyear doesn't lend itself to speed and efficiencyMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
