I am building a patio with balcony and solid roof on top. The balcony floor is built with 8′ composite decking material. Originally I didn’t think about having a ceiling on the ground level, but I changed my mind and I want to have some sort of ceiling. Even though I have a solid roof covering the entire balcony above, but there will be some splash when it rains, what are my options to installing some type of ceiling in the first floor? could I just use vinyl shiplap? would it collect water since the floor is flat? perhaps leaving some spacing between the plank so water would drip down? is it a big concern? thank you

What would you think of using a shade fabric to cover the joists? (pick one that is waterproof and open so that water will drain, and the area can dry)
that's a good idea, however they probably block the ceiling light I would have
I appreciate your help
