ceiling joists

Hi all,  just looking at the plans for a Habitat house.  The prints show the joists(2×8) running across the width of the house.  They seem to be unsupported.  Do ceiling joists need to be supported?

The house is two story built on a slab.  Roof is 10 pitch with a dormer on the back.  Roof will be stick built.  Thanks

    Depending on the species of lumber 2x8 ceiling joists should span about 20'. It is customary to support ceiling joists on each end.
