I posted an inquiry several days ago about applying cement fiber board over Home Slicker and asking for suggestions. The builder was concerned that the fiber cement siding would look wavy. Well we started installing it yesterday (even had a representative from Certainteed on the job site to advise us how to nail). and sure enough it is wavy and even somewhat “floppy”. We are hand nailing it with roofing nails at the top as recommended by the Certainteed guru.
When I saw what was happening, I immediately called the Home Slicker folks as I have already done over the last few weeks, and I did not get much help- the best they can say is do not drive the nails too deep. I have stopped the project and ask for a field rep from Home Slicker to come to the job, but frankly I am not hopeful given my past experience with them. If any of you have applied fiber cement siding over Home Slicker, please offer any tips so the job looks correct. I am really desparate, even now looking into wood siding and considering ripping the Home Slicker off the house and eating at least $3000 in material and labor.

Google says:

why would that cause waviness.
I think Hardie can be a little wavy when installed but i do not know what causes it. The base hardie is not wavy
Why put slicker under hardie plank anyway?
The hardie (at its edges) probably breathes better than wood - why use the slicker?

Thanks for your responses about the cement fiber siding over Home Slicker, which for those who asked is a nylon mesh 1/4" material designed to allow air and drainage behind the finished siding. As mentioned in my first memo, we are nailing at the top with roofing nails and are now nailing at the bottom every other stud(16 on center) with the nails provided by Certainteed. We hope the bottom nailing will straighten out the siding. Will keep you posted so you can learn from my experience.
Took a while but I found this..
