Man that looks labor intensive! I've never found the need to jack boards into place except for the last couple of rows where the floor nailer can't be used. A $6 prybar is sufficient or a chisel/ screwdriver lever works for me. You should be tossing or returning pieces of hardwood so warped that they need to be jacked into place.
As for the square, We had a guy who brought one, it was pretty cool for about two days then I never saw it again. A scrap of plywood or the old 3-4-5 tape method or the more accurate 6-8-10 is more portable.

I think I saw a Stanley folding square at Lowes with the long leg at 45 degrees. Not certain about lowes but I have seen it.
I've had the Stanley layout square NIGELUSA refers to for a couple years now. Doesn't come out all the time, but can be pretty handy sometimes and really doesn't take up much room in the van. Seems to be pretty accurate.
I'd say it has been worth the $20 - 25 I spent on it.
