I am estimating a finished basement for a customer. They want an exercise room that is going to be approximately 14′ x 14′ to be tiled with 12″ ceramic tile. The house is 2 years old. My concern is the concrete floor has a crack that is about 1/8″ and running almost across the entire room.
At the crack the floor is slightly buckled. I do know the floor was poured in the winter during a cold spell. Also the home owner said the floor is never moist or wet.
Should I be concerned about tiling this area? Is there a good chance the tile or grout lines will form cracks in them over time?
Any tips and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
