Hi
I have a basement with concrete slab that I would like to put tile on. But, the basement is quite damp. The throw rug, that had been on top of the concrete, has obvious water damage. The owners say that the basement doesnt flood but they think water seeps in from the floor or from the concrete walls. The dehumidifier runs all day and the basememt is still damp, musty and mildewy smelling.
My question: Will the water/dampness coming up from the floor degrade the tile adhesive? Should I put tile on this floor, or recommend that the homeowner find someone to fix the moisture problem first? Has anybody ever used a product called Radonseal? Is this good or necessary.
Thanks.
