My wife will be starting school at U of I in August and I think this will be a good time for me to make a career change. I have some experience framing and would like to try to get back into it but would consider something else.
I am easy to get along with and I can promise you that I will show up on time with a good attitude, ready to work and willing to learn.

Glad to have another one around in Illinois. I'm not close enough to help you find any work, unfortunately. Best of luck...
.
Have you seent the thread about the fest in Indiana on May 18th? You should be about a 4 hour drive from that area. Check out the "Breaktime Fests" folder if you're interested.
I'd love to got to the fest, but I'm in Iowa for now. That would be a little to far to drive.
Thanks.

Just tell me a little about yourself. I live 30 miles north of Champaign, and most of my stairs are in that area.
I worked for an outfit called Hallbeck Homes. I was there for ten years and they respect my opinions. They are always looking for good help/ Walk ons are harder ti get hired. If I saw your work, talked to you personally, all I have to say is hire this guy, and they respect my opinion.
Stan,
Thanks for the response. My resume is not all that impressive. I worked with 2 other guys for about 2 1/2 months. In that time we framed one house and did a few repairs for the builder as well as some vinyl siding. I loved the job, but I got another offer I thought I couldn't refuse, so I took it. In the end it wasn't the job they promised. But if I hadn't taken it I never would have meet my wife.
I think I have a lot to offer a company that is willing to take a chance with someone with only a little experience. I am willing to start at the bottom, as long as I have a chance to learn and can move up quickly if I prove myself.
I had seen Hallbeck's website before and was impressed with their homes. Do you do many stairs for them? Your work is impressive!
Thanks again,
Mark

I worked for them for ten years and built all their stairways. I have my own stairshop and I build their curved stairways, but they have a finish carpenter of their own that does all the straight ones.
