Boss has purchased 2 Maxx framing nailers.
Part of the decision was to get some thing that used nails that are readily available, but the nails we get for it are the Master fastener nails from woodworkers warehouse(I am really starting to dislike going there).
Recently we ran out and I went to the closest real lumber yard and got a couple of boxes.
The list of nailers they fit on the box is the same as the MF nails, but the collation angle is 33º, the MF nails are 34º
I figured that they had to be the same jus that some one screwed up when they printed the labels.
But when I hold two rack together the angle difference is noticeable.
Now I find that the nails at Tool Crib are labeled 33º and I suspect that we have just ran 3 or 4 boxes of Inferior nails thru our new guns.
MF nails are 25$ a box and made in korea
the others are 36$ and made in USA (SMT? brand)
Anyone out there have a similar experience?
What brand is it that Tool crib sells?
Blowes has Senco nails but boss doesn’t want to start shopping there.

What model Max guns do you have? I use Max framing guns and the recommended angle of strip nails are 21°. I have used nails manufactured by "Steel & Wire Products Co." and nails by "Grip-Rite Fasteners" Never had a problem with either of them. I believe the Max angle framing nailer can use nails between 20° thru 22°.
Hope this helps out.
They are the clipped head framers, model no. has a 34 on the end.
another crew member says that they send out spark withe the chean nails, but I got sparks with th more expensive ones.
Maybe we should get name brand nails for them??
perplexing to say the least!

I think we are talking about different nailers. As far as I know, MAX only makes two framing guns, one is a 15° coil framing gun, model CN890II, and the other is a 21° stick framer, model SN890RH. Both are full head."One measurement is worth a thousand expert opinions"
We just switched to using the Senco nails for our Hitachi, Bostich and DeWalt framing guns. We were using Grip-rite and they would fall apart in every one of those guns. I started buying Senco last week and we haven't had any problems. I won't buy generic nails anymore.
You could try Paslode nails for your Max. They make a good nail, and I believe it should work for your gun. We can get them at Home Depot around here (Seattle area). I've also used Hitachi nails and they seemed to be high quality.
How do you like your Max? Those guns seem to get good reviews, but I haven't heard much from other framers? What made you guys buy Max? Let me know.
By the way, the box of Sencos we bought today was $30 for 4000 nails. We use 3" not 3-1/2" because we got sick of torn clothes.
I like them so far, but i have not used them much.
Compared to our tired old bostich coil nailers they work great.
My concern is that I want to keep them working great!
The rest of the crew says they drive into microlams fine, which was a major concern for me.
Boss made the decision based on the self cleaning filter and the tool free jam clearing.
The only problem I have is that our regular lumber yard does not carry the nails , so this means a special trip if we run out.
