Is American chestnut different than European Chestnut. I’m ignorant. Is there a market for imported Chestnut in the U.S.?

You might want to go to the top of the banner and click on the Knots forum. It will take you to the Fine Woodworking discussion site, much like this one.
There are a few hardwood buffs here, but Knots is loaded with them.

Yes both differ and both are different from horse chestnut.
And there probably is a market or one can bedecveloped.
