I need a good sheet rocker for a couple of rooms. It is a small job. I know what I can do well and I know what I can’t. Just so we are clear I am a home owner with some good skills and one of them is not hanging sheetrock. I could do it myself and it would look kind of okay but I would have to sand all day long. This is probably a two day job, the rooms would be gutted and ready to go, I love to run trim and finish but I hate to sheetrock. For a skilled rocker I am guessing this is a Saturday and a half. For me much more, Let me know, [email protected], Montrose and the Kennedy.

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Sounds like more than a day and a half to me- even if you get the rock up and a first coat on in one day, you've got to come back for two more coats sanding (unless you use Durabond). Hope you realize that's gonna cost ya.

I understand the costs, There are two small rooms and only one very small closet, I think you are right with the day to get the rock up as well as the first coat. You are probably right about a third return for the final coat. For me it would be a much longer project cause I am pretty slow at taping and I end up having to sand a lot. I am willing to pay to get in done in short order so I can work on the stuff I like to do. I am guessing it is a long shot of finding someone here to do it but what the heck, I figure this would be the place to find folks who do quality work. After this I have a kitchen to do and I really don't what to rock that myself.
I'm only 5 hours from you so this might be an idea if regional. I am in contact with commercial hangers/finishers that love to moonlight on those small jobs. For a buck a ft you could get a super job if you found the right guys. Whatever you do, take a good recommendation. You know any people in the trades that could tip you?Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I have asked several people I know and no good recommendation as of yet. Still waiting to hear back from one person, there is one I know of but I have been adivised by someone who used him that he woulnt use him again. I don't have the time to do everything myself anymore now that I have a 3year old and a job that takes to much time away as well.
Finding a moonlighter with a good reference is pretty much what I had in mind
Do you have a good drywall supply in your area. Drywall/steel studs only? Drive in there, hope for a good person at the desk and ask them. Might turn you something if you can figure out if they're reliable and decent. If this post stays here long enough, someone from Chicago should see it.
There was a carpenter that moved up to chicago that was from the southwest. He used to hang around here. Anyone remember who that was?Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Thanks for the suggestion, it is a good one and how I found a great floor guy, only difference I knew the guy who worked the counter there. I finally found two good recommendations, if those don't work out off the the supply house. thanks, Rob.
Good to hear rob. Say, my daughter arrived chicago today and she helped me when she was little. Maybe she could give you a hand.........nah, she's on a social visit. Best of luck.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.
