The chimney brush posting inspried a question.
What do you think the best method of cleaning my 27′ tall chimney would be? Renting personnel lift and going from top down or working through the damper from the bottom up…or both? I laid it all up myself so being that high on scaffolding is no picnic I want to repeat.
And how often should it be cleaned? Here in Florida, we’re burning about 75 fires a year. Sure thats a lot for Florida but what can I say, the misses loves fires.

Is it an open fire place ?
If it is , you wont ever clean it becuse it will stay burned out .
Besides that , the only reason for cleaning a chimney is creasote . If the fires built are complete combustion and you dont do slow burns there is zero chance of cresote , burning wood thats 12 percent moisture . Thats dry. Stay away from pitch woods also like Pine . Preventative thinking rules .
