I'm kind of interested in this topic too. Our CMU chimney has taken leave of the house, and seems to be taking part of the foundation (also CMU) with it. It's reasonably stable, so I haven't been in any hurry to address it, but will need to sooner or later.
Can mud jacking be used in this situation? Any other techniques possible besides totally excavating the foundation and somehow jacking it up?
What I understand is that piers must be installed into solid ground to support the unit and prevent additional lean, then they will pump a slurry mix to support the inside slab and any voids that may exist. I've see this on some warehouse projects I've worked in.
What I have done is to dig a trench under the footer wide enough to fit an 8x16x4" solid cmu laying on the large side beneath the footer and deep enough to get a jack between the two. Started jacking and the pushed the cmu into the ground. Added another cmu and kept repeating until the footer started moving up. When I got it where I wanted it, I replaced the jack with a lally column and poured the hole full of concrete.Might be tough to do this on a narrow chimney if you couldn't leave a pretty good column of undisturbed earth to support it during the operation.http://logancustomcopper.com
