I have an old brick chimney where the mortar in the upper half is just like mush so where the steam condenses in the attic of this old , badly insulated house it soaks the inside of the flue then runs down the flue and through the porous mortar to the inside ruining the drywall which I’m trying to repair. The furnace was installed one year ago in our cold climate ,Ottawa Canada. Its in the basement and runs up through two stories then the attic. The furnace runs about 8 ft. of 6″ #26 guage , here its called C vent I believe ,into the chimney, what should I use to run the 35′ to the peak of the roof.

Why not just finish the run with the 6" pipe and cap the top of the chimney? It is not that hard to do.
*Repair the chimney, replace it...or have a contractor do it.near the stream,ajWhat is breaktime now...Help me pinch my penny time?
*Ya AJ, you are right, what was I thinking. Ok dude, rip out your walls on every floor so that you can gain access to the chimney chase, rip out the old crap and install a new chimney. Repair the walls, re-flash the old roof, and ask your wife's divorce attorney what the big deal was about cleaning up a little mess.Or hey, how about that neat trick of sticking a tube down the chimney and pouring crete around it? That is my favorite.Seriously, I have done the fluepipe down the chimney trick in an old house for a wood stove installed in a fireplace. There was no way I would light a fire in the fireplace because of the condition of the chimney, but the fluepipe/woodstove thing allowed me to heat this monster of a house with a woodstove I had and free wood, and was low impact on the original features. Had my 25 year old raising two kids budget allowed I might have gone into hero-mode.Well, except that it wasn't my house......looking at a stream, on top of a hill.give stupid advice, but always will... ;-)
*Q....You are saying the same thing as I...A flue liner is a repair....I have a friend in the sweep business and he does these several times a year...for poor folk and for the rest...near the stream....helping ya read my message,aj]I never said to spend $10 grand.
