The secret of Zen in two words is, "Not always so"!
When we meet, we say, Namaste'..it means..I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides, I honor the place in you of love, of light, of truth, of peace. I honor the place within you where if you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, there is only one of us.
or better yet type it in in the search box down below on the left hand side

DeWalt. I have the non-slider double bevel and love it. 30 years in the business and its one of the best purchases I've made.

I have the Dewalt SCMS works well been very happy with it. It mostly is for decking and trim work
What do you plan to use it for? What's the largest board you would normally cut ... excluding the occassional oversize board?
If you almost always cut 2x6 and smaller, a non-slider would work well. It's usually smaller and less expensive than a slider. Look at the Dewalt 705 ... it's been around a long time.
If you cut a lot of 8-10-12" boards, you definately need a slider.
Will you be doing much bevel cutting? Like crown and other trim? A double bevel can be very useful. For occassional bevelling, a single bevel saw will work.

Actually ed , I was looking to get the Bosch 5412L 12"Dual bevel slide miter with laser.
I also have a lot of over sized heart pine with old nails and I did'nt want to use the bosch for that even thou it can cut the wide boards.
Or should I just use and change out blade?
Or should I get a used/ rebuilt something else............
undeicded.

First thing you need to do is learn how to post a message. I saw the other one you did, titled "Tool reviews". Then this one where you ask a vague question about generic miter saw information.
If you had noted in the title of wither one which saw you were looking at, or even noted that in the original post here, you would have received more direct answers.
Pull the nails before cutting, the blade will last longer.

I'm looking to get a 12" chop saw.

Wow....you went from a chop saw....a +/- $100 tool..... to a compound slider....a +/- $500 tool...in two posts.
Thats some jump.

Did you get a Dewalt?

I got that Bosch.
I'm gonna put it on a permanent table.
The Dewalt 12" double bevel nonslide is I think the best saw made. I' havethe single bevel for the last 12 years or so. I'm about to purchase the slider. I've used them all and they're all pretty good.
I just bought the Bosch 5412L at Amazon for 459.00.
Had 110.00 off and free shipping.
I looked at that. Damned good deals on Amazon for miter saws right now. $110 off on any saw over $500, and $60 off anything over $300 and it's free shipping! This is off of their already discounted price. Hurry, this only lasts till Sat the 21st.
