Anyone have a recommendation for a really good product that cleans up old tile nicely — esp. one that gets out rust stains and such? Here’s a pic of the problem…. -SC

Plain ol' CLR has worked wonders for me - but make sure you have LOTS of ventilation. It may take several applications (let it soak), but it should take everything off (and probably start to eat into the grout a little).
I've used CLR to take rust stains off of rocks in a garden landscape. Didn't do much good for the surrounding plants, but the rocks sure are pretty!

Thanks, Ricky. I was thinking I'd probably start with good old Comet, but I figure some of these stains are deep. Thanks for the suggestion!
What are you doin' in my mama's bathroom?
Oxalic acid is the next step for rust stains you can't remove with powdered cleanser.
Bar Keeper's Friend.
In my house it takes a lot more rust off with a lot less work than CLR does.
The label does warn that it might discolor colored grout.

Another day, another tool.
Ya, for an abrasive Bar Keeper's Friend kicks Bon ami and Comet in da azz.

The wall tiles look like those standard 4"x4" cheapo tiles, if the rust does not come off just replace them. The floor looks a little more involved. WD40 works well on some stains.
