Wow, Very cool.Don't know how accurate they are, but I could watch them all day long.Scott.
He had about a dozen of them in his shop when we were there last weekend, but only about four were wound and running.Prices start around $3500, and climb rapidly from there.

>>>Prices start around $3500, and climb rapidly from there.Whew; too cool for me.But good for him for creating a market. The gears reek of fine workmanship, and the artistry is impressive, and the physics.Scott.

Yeah, it was interesting seeing his shop. Stacks of wooden gears, in various stages of finishing from rough blanks to final sanding to finish applied.He had a couple of clocks with "normal" escapements, but most had escapements that were designed to move more slowly, to be able to impart more energy to the pendulum.

For my purposes (and mine only), I wish you would have started your post with "and now for something completely different".
Because I recently completed building a clock for my son's wedding present. It's over at Knots if you want to see it.

But make no mistake, mine has nowhere near the artistry.
I won't be laughing at the lies when I'm gone,
And I can't question how or when or why when I'm gone;
I can't live proud enough to die when I'm gone,
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here. (Phil Ochs)
