I have a French door 65 inches wide. Since no one ever uses it I would like to leave the door and put a frame around it and drywall around it. I would like to have the option later on, if someone wanted to have access to the door it would be easy
I could make it 8″ wide and about a foot from the sides leaving room for the bed to go inside the new frame. Also stop about 6″ from the ceiling and put crown molding around it allowing for heat to escape.
Since this is on the South side of the house, would there be any problems with the heat in the summer. I will have come in 3 inches from the door for the door handle. Dead air space. This would make the frame about 5″ deep.

Not as much work-floor to ceiling drapes.
