What is the norm for closet shelves. 66″ seems too low. unless you double your shelves. just curious. I am trimming my own house now and was looking at 66 and wondering. Or is it the rod at 66….cant remember

68" top of cleat, for double shelves 80". But then again everybody does it different.
67" or five foot seven. personal preference
I usually set the shelf at 64",
That way most people can eyeball what is on the shelf and it is high enough to keep most clothing off the floor when on hangers. In a standard closet, it makes it fairly good fit to put stuff on the shelf without fighting the door jamb height.
