I’ve been in the process of closing a business the last three months and trying to get rid of stuff. I’d rather give it to a charity than someone “steal” it for a dirt cheap price. Nobody is buying anyway in this market. Can anyone think of some good charaties? I have a forklift(8,000 lb), warehouse racks, Panasonic phone system(5 lines) and some office furniture.

Where in GA are you? I know of an Army Aviation museum near Atlanta Motor Speedway that is an official non-profit that would allow you to get a tax write off for it.
habitat for humanity store
The stuff is in Florida. I have a new residence in northern GA.
Habitat has stores all over selling donated items. I live in Pensacola.
Here is a list of charitieshttp://www.paradisecoast.com/cms/index.php?id=466Might send an email to the person at the top of the list and see if they can circulate the office equipment list to the different charities..

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
I was thinking of Harry Chapin...thanks folks
Harry Chapin it is. It's nice to be able to help those in need. Afterall I was practically homeless 6 1/2 years ago and I know how it feels. Their eyes lit up when they found out they could now retire their old forklift.
I'll bet the closest food bank could use a forklift and racks. If not, there should be a local charity--here it's called Fort Worth CAN Academy--that could sell the forklift at auction, then use the money to educate at-risk kids.
By the way, keep up the good work.
In the Kansas City areaa we have Surplus Exchange which accepts and distributes office equipment to non-profits.
Don't know if they have large enough warehouse to take the other stuff.
But there is Habitat which localy operates a Restore and in some areas they also operate a ware house for their own needs.
And Harvesters which operates a large food bank which supplies local food pantries and kitchens. They could progbably use the warehouse stuff.
I think that you might have been in Napples.
Googling I have a hard getting the right key words.
But did find a ReStore.

You might want to contact them directly.
But I did see two organizaiton that might need the warehouse stuff.
Red Cross. Don't know if they have any large warehouse to keep emergency supplies in that area or not.
