I want to install a coffered ceiling in a few rooms at home which currently have stipled ceilings. I expect that I’ll need to level the existing ceiling to install the frame on a level plane, but I’m not sure the best (or easiest) way to do this, or if there is another way. Any ideas from others who have tackled a similar job?

To prevent moisture buildup and improve performance, install a continuous air barrier—such as drywall or specialized membranes—under tongue-and-groove boards or other interior wall paneling.
