Contractors license for Colorado? Colorado apparently has no state contractors license. it is county regulated, and every county requires a different code, Some require the Nationl Building Code others the International Code Or perhaps The 1997 Uniform Building Code, And a few none at all. My ? is this Do all of the contractors have to pass each county test in order to do buisness in that county? And are all the bond and insurance requirements different per county? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

What ever county you tested in you can use your license for the adjacent county.
Code, bonding, insurance is mandated by county.
Keep in mind that a lot of the counties are good ole boy clicks.

Perhaps some counties have reciprocal licensing agreements, I'm sure IMERC knows about his area. Where I live (Walsenburg/Huerfano County) you have to have a city license to work in Walsenburg, a county license to work in the county (outside the towns), another license to work in La Veta and even more to work in any adjacent town or county.
Decide what area you plan to work in and check with the local building office. You can probably find out what insurance and/or bonding is required for the various jurisdictions that you might work in and get one policy that will suffice for all of them.
Here there is no test for licensing. They may want some references to veryify some experience, but it's very lax in my experience. No doubt it's different in more urban locations!
I wouldn't worry much about being licensed to work to far away from where you live. If you get a chance to bid on something that requires additional licensing add the cost into the bid.
Good luck!

Be coming through Walsenburg the end of the week on my way to NC (finally!)
Watch out for a wild looking rig. I'll post pics. Homemade gooseneck with sides made of 2x4's and metal off a building that was torn down. Sides are 7' above the trailer bed.

I'll keep my eyes open for you, but I'll probably be riding a skid loader in a cloud of dust!
Best of luck on your trip!Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a carpenter to build one.

City of Denver/Denver County, you have to pass the test ($400) to get license, also 3 types of license Class A, B & C. The test is not a walk in the Park, most metro areas will give you a license if you have the Denver one. What part of Colorado that you have interest in ?
