in september I baught(rather my 2 year old baught for me for my b-day, with my money:) )a Bostich F21PL framing nailer…It shoots the plastic collated 21 degree nails(3 1/2 max) but also you can remove the framing nose and replace it with a positive placement type of nose and shoot in your metal fasteners…Fantastic gun..A week after I got it I had a laborer install 120 hurricane clips on this roof and he had it done in under 2 hours..
My question is though, why haven’t guns like this been more widely available? I had used the Paslode posi.placement for years (bostich way cooler cause it shoots framers as well)but it seemed like I might have been the only person in the world with that gun.
Any thaughts? Any one else pick up this new bostich? They sell it at HD but don’t advertise it as being able to shoot metal fasteners….kinda silly
All I ever wanted in life was an unfair advantage…

i have been using one of these guns for 2 years now, I dont know anybody else who is using one, the down side of the gun is the cost of the fixings as they are about 3 times the cost of wire weld or paper collated here in the UK.
Regardless of the cost of fixings the gun is great and means one less tool being dragged on site. Big bonus for me as most of my work is in central London and space is always a premium.
Been using one for a year. Like it. Good feature set. Good gun for DIYers. Bought mine reconditioned from CPO.
I leave it on the single shot trigger because our work does not require firing lots of nails fast. It does require good placement in awkward positions. Besides, that way I can switch to the PP nose and shoot those nails. What a time saver!
So I use it for work and for Habitat projects. For fast nailing, I use the Max.
Another point to mention - it will fire some rather large commons. Remove the spacer rod and it will take 0.168 dia nails (if my memory serves).
Given all this, it's the gun that goes out the door most - and I am watching for a buy on one of their coil siding guns.

I've had my N88RH for just over a year, bought it used but in great condition and it continues to amaze me, even with a not-so-great compressor. I don't miss a chance to brag about it. I can't find a bounce trigger for it. I would assume that the same trigger would work from the F21. I missed the chance to buy the placement nose for about $50, and wouldn't you know it, I had to nail off about 20 joist hangers about two weekends later, plus a few more shortly after that. My excuse was "well, I just don't see 21 deg connector nails anywhere, but sure enough, I've now got a whole case in the back of my car with no PP nose.
