Just thought i’d post this picture of a compass rose that I formed into the gable of my house. The shingles are Maibecs, pre-stained with Cabot.

nice.... now can you back off and show us the whole elevation ... i'd like to see the scale..
Ok, after finally figuring out that you need to wait for the 'upload' button before clicking done, here are a couple more shots of the fron (south) elevation.
thanks... good looking house.. is it on the CApe ?Mike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
I wish it were on the cape....Western Massachusetts actually. I 'see a sea' from my front window, but its a hay field. The house has a defineate nautical influence, though. There's also a J-24 parked in the back yard.
How about a few more details on the tower?
The tower is a 3-season porch with a bluestone floor. Glazing frames in winter, screens in summer. The top floor is a room off the master bed - my office. The cupola was last winter's shop project. Everyone told me I was supposed to start with the foundation, but i'm an architect and don't like to listen to popular opinion.
Like the way you did the gable vent, and the turret. Nice house.
Very nice work, this kind of detail is very rare these days, especially with all the vinyl "90 day wonders" being built in my area. It looks like you formed a piece of copper flashing to make a drip cap for above the arched window. Could you please tell me how you made this part, I have several arched windows to deal with on a rennovation project that I am about to start. Thanks for your help!!
