Finally I got the finishing touches done on the entrance to my home. Moved in in 2000, but just wrapped up the brick walkway and got a good start on the landscaping. The front door was made of Western Red Cedar and installed by me, and the brick walkway was installed by me. Everything else was done by contractors per my plans. It was a pleasure working with such a good bunch of craftsmen.

Nice! What are the steps?
The facing of the foundation and the steps is a man-made tumbled cementitious block that comes in a mix of sizes and intended to look like stone. From the road it does, but up close most people can tell they're man made.
The treads and top of the stoop are colored concrete. The top of the stoop is actually 6" thick and sets on standard concrete block inside the facing. It's thinned to 3" at the edge just for appearance. There's a piece of sill seal between the slab and the facing so the weight of the slab rests on the concrete block not on the facing material.
It seems everyone with a wooden porch is constantly scraping, painting, patching, shoring, etc. I wanted low maintenance so I went with concrete.

Maybe I can do something with Dell Picture Studio! J
Wayne: I like your entrance.....I also noticed there is room to screw a curved stairway through the front door.... :)
Very pretty! Where are the outdoor lights from?
The hanging porch light is from Arroyo Craftsmen in California, the walkway lights are Malibu lights from Lowe's. The wierd thing about the Malibu lights is that they are genuine bronze and the glazing is real glass.
I like that lavender color..very classy!

I'll look deeper into this tinting of the primer. I would suspect changing any product especially one formulated to achive a specific purpose with an ingredient that does not attribute to the original is wrong. It's like adding an oil additive to a motor oil..ouch!
