I apologize if this topic has already made the rounds. I’m just curious if anyone has any strong feelings one way or another on the multitude of composite decking available. I am planning a deck and would like to use synthetic decking but have not really been able to gain a consensus on which brands really stand out. I’ve read some negative comments on some, mainly mold issues, but I’m not sure if it’s just sour grapes. I’ve looked at the offerings in the big do it yourself retail stores and some that are sold through smaller building supply stores. I’m intrigued with the AZEK product (which I think is a vinyl or pvc).My joists will be on 12″ centers,so flex should not be a problem. I would also like to use hidden fasteners if that would narrow down the choices. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The most common way to make your own parging mix is to use either Type S mortar for block or Type N for brick and add a concrete bonding additive.

Last months Consumer's Reports had a rating and comments on them.
Thanks. I'll check it out.
I don't like any of them. Use a concealed fastener that holds the board off the joists and pray.
Aside from cost, could you be more specific?
