I recently bought a new Bostitch Finish Nailer/Compresser kit. I’m new to this kind of tool and I have a simple question I can’t seem to find the answer to!
After I finish a project, should I empty the air out of the compresser before packing everything away? Or, can I just leave it? Does this cause unecessary wear and tear on the compresser?
Thanks!

I drain the air from the tank by the water drain. The worst enemy of the tank and tools is WATER. Use the recommended oil the nailer manufacturer suggests and oil at the end of every day of use. Thus ready to go for the next time. If your having a heavy use day give the nailer a drop or two of oil at lunch.
WeekendWarrrior is right Scoot, the best thing you can do for your compressor is to drain it frequently. That being said I need to go drain mine right now.

ditto what bear said. I drain mine daily.......leave the #### open over nite....run it a few seconds in the morning before turning it tight.....then run it open a more at clean up with it open...to dry things out.
You may be surprised at the amount of water that comes out at the end of a long and humid day. Tip it up so the #### at the lowest point and go till she's done spitting at ya. Jeff She's exotic ,but not foreign, like an old Cadillac......she's a knockout!
Now why would the censor go and delete "DRAIN" . It is being used in the right context and refers to nothing else.
Maybe he was using the word for a male chicken. Here, I'll try it: the drain valve is also called a ####, or even just a ####.

Yup. Just what I thought. Here goes again:
The drain vulva is also called ####p e t c o c k or even just ####c o c k.

Huh? That's interesting. This time the censor hit the word 'a' each time I used it. Go figure. Oh, well..................

A little trick that I have used is to remove the "c##k" and drop about a 1/2 pint of oil into my tank when I first got the compressor. Run the compressor and drain the oil being sure to run it through the blowoff and the outlet before draining it from the tank. Voila, all the parts the see condensation are well coated and I'll never get the rusty water.
