Concrete floors covered in sheet rock mud spray
—Thanks to everyone who offered a solution. I took some water and scrubbed a small area-you all were so right!!!! It lifted it off!!! I’m going to rent a floor machine that will spray water on the floor, scrub and suck up the dirty water. I think this will be easier than I thought! Again-thanks for taking the time to help!!
Sheet rockers done-left a mess. Sprayed orange peel on ceiling and walls-floors not protected. I scraped as much as possible, but still a layer of dried mud on floor-everywhere…..I’ve got the floor relatively smooth, but don’t like what’s left on the floor. do I need to get this off the floor before we install tile and Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring? Painters come next-I fear paint will be on top of dried mud-and that sounds worse……
do I need to totally remove this off the floor? What is best way to do that? If I can get it removed and have a clean concrete floor, I’ll put ram board down before painter arrives. He will be arriving soon…..Please help……

Did you scrape the floor dry? You need to get a good floor scraper and use a little bit of water. The mud will come right off. This works on sub floors, too.
A mop bucket and mop will get it up but if you scrapped it should be fine.
A rental floor scrubber or a commercial mop, bucket and press (wringer) should work well if you want it clean…..
Where do they find these guys?
I think if you wet the stuff down, it should come right off.
Use a mop and you'll get through it
Couple years later in case you didn’t notice.
Think they got it done?
Last year, during the renovation of my office space in Lafayette, we had residual debris on the concrete floors. We opted to hire a commercial cleaning company equipped with an indoor pressure washer. This method effectively removed stubborn grime, leaving us with a pristine surface ready for further treatment. So yeah, it should do the job in your house.
The company we hired was https://www.goinggreencleaningla.com/, in case someone might need such services in Lafayette.

Great to hear that water and scrubbing worked for you! Since you're planning to install tile and Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring, it's essential to remove the dried mud from the concrete floor. This will ensure a smooth surface for your new flooring and prevent any issues with adhesion. Renting a floor machine to spray water, scrub, and remove the dirty water sounds like a solid plan. Once you've cleaned the floor, laying down ram board before the painter arrives will help protect it from any potential paint spills. Good luck!
