I am stripping the finish off some precast concrete pillars inside a home. The finish has the look of powder coat but is coming loose in places so that is the reason for the finish removal. What is this stuff? I have been chipping, using a heat gun and now paint stripper and no one method is better than another. These pillars are maybe 5′ high at the most and 12 in diameter around the middle. I have finished day four and not done with the third one and one more to go. The painter who hired me thought two days. This coating laughs at his chemical paint and finish remover. Anybody have any ideas?

Bosch scaler. Can't find the model #
Sandblasting?
I'm thinking a poly tent on PVC conduit for a frame. I have seen this done without too much trouble with dust. Could the paint be epoxy? Not sure how to dissolve it.
We are to far into this to start sand blasting. We are using a paint stripper called Certified. The guy from the paint store came out and just said I have never seen anything this will not react with. The finish does not react other than to get soft. It will not lift off the surface. The can says it can be used on epoxies. What ever is on these posts it was applied on site as there are spots where they did not cover very well such as close to the wall.
Rent a Bosch scaler. Give it a try.
Our original goal was to remove the coating so the posts could be left the natural cement. But there where to many defects filled in with a soft putty. So the decision was made to strip in the fastest manner and they would be faux painted to look like marble. It took six days of shipping, scraping and sanding but I finished got paid and said goodby to those things with everyone being happy except the owner was a little shocked at the bill for the removal.
Wait 'till they get the bill for the faux painting!.
