We discovered a concrete vault under our porch that has not been accessed since the house was built in the 1920’s. We plan to saw cut an opening to make use of this space for storage or possibly additional basement conditioned space. The floor of the space is currently native soil. I have bee following the “concrete free slab on grade” article to install a usable floor in this space. We would like to insulate it as well to match the rest of the basement (2″ EPS + 2×4/fiberglass). What sort of insulation/vapor barrier system would you install and where? I am in climate zone 5 (A)

Since there was evidently no door opening in that wall to basement.
Remember this space was not meant to live in. The foundation walls will need to be waterproofed and the exterior well drained, as well as the appropriate lentil in your cut opening.
